The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) did important repairs, like fixing leaks and putting in new pipes.
They also connected a new booster station to help pump water better.
The work was finished by Saturday evening, and the water treatment plant started making clean water again.
The water supply is expected to return to normal on Sunday morning.
The areas affected include places like Jadavpur and Behala.
The KMC will watch the new pipes to make sure they work well and fix the roads where they dug to lay the new pipes.
Water supply in south Calcutta resumed on Sunday morning after a 22-hour maintenance shutdown.
KMC officials replaced valves, connected a new booster pumping station, and laid a 1km new pipeline.
The maintenance included fixing a leaking pipeline stretch between Rashbehari crossing and Mudiali.
