'Vadhandhi' makers on small-town crime, rumours and Tamil identity

'Vadhandhi' makers on small-town crime, rumours and Tamil identity

There is a Tamil TV show called Vadhandhi, which means 'rumours.'

The show tells stories about what happens in small villages when people spread rumours and secrets come out.

Season one came out in 2022 and was set in a green town called Kanyakumari.

Season two recently came out on a streaming service called Prime Video.

In season two, a police officer named Moosa Raza thinks a young man named Mani is innocent, even though Mani is waiting to be punished for the murders of his sister and girlfriend.

The show's makers wanted to make the story feel real, so they set it in a small town where everyone knows each other.

They also wanted the show to feel very Tamil, with its own special style, just like shows from Nordic countries have their own style.

The makers hope people all over India will enjoy this story from the South.

That is why they chose local actors and a local setting.

The show is about believing in someone, even when everyone else is telling rumours about them.
