Iran Says Supertanker Hit Hormuz Mines, Warns Unauthorized Ships

Iran's Revolutionary Guard says an oil tanker hit a sea mine while trying to leave the Strait of Hormuz.

The Guard says the ship caught fire and was using a route Iran had not approved.

It also said its forces struck another ship, called NV Sunshine, the day before.

Iran warned that ships using unauthorized routes could be targeted beyond the strait.

Iran blamed the US military for rising tensions, but the articles do not include a US response to these claims.

Separately, Iran's president said his country would keep talking with the United States.

He said both countries had shared proposals and that mediators could help finish a plan.

The articles also say Iran restricted passage through the strait on February 28.
