Pope Leo Says Middle East Conflicts Strain Jewish-Christian Dialogue

Pope Leo issued a new Catholic Church document about relationships between different religions.

He said fighting in the Middle East has made conversations between Jews and Christians more difficult.

People from the two faiths have not always agreed about the violence.

However, he said their dialogue has not ended.

The document celebrates 60 years of efforts to improve Jewish-Christian relations.

It calls fighting antisemitism a shared responsibility for Jews and Christians.

It also says Islamophobia wrongly treats Muslims as if they are all connected to extremist violence.

The pope urged people to keep communicating and working together.
