ISS Urges Block on Redstone and Others at Paramount Board
A big company called Paramount wants to merge with another company called Skydance, but things are complicated.
A firm that advises shareholders, called ISS, is telling investors they should not vote for some of the people who run Paramount, including Shari Redstone, because of concerns about the company's finances and how executives are paid.
Also, the merger is delayed because former President Trump is suing Paramount's news division.
Redstone and her son plan to leave the board after the merger, and Redstone has been undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer.
ISS recommends shareholders block Shari Redstone and three other directors from Paramount's board.
The recommendation is largely symbolic due to Redstone's controlling stake in Paramount.
The upcoming shareholder meeting is tied to the proposed $8 billion merger with Skydance.
Former President Trump's lawsuit against Paramount's CBS News has delayed the merger's closing.
Redstone and her son will not serve on the combined company's board after the merger.
