Four Batters Stranded on 99 in T20Is
In cricket, getting 99 runs before getting out is very disappointing because it's just one run short of a century.
In the shortest format of the game, called T20 Internationals, four batters have been dismissed on 99.
The first was Alex Hales from England in 2012.
He scored 99 runs off 68 balls.
Six years later, Hamid Shah from Denmark did the same.
In 2024, two more players, Abdul Waheed from Saudi Arabia and Scott Edwards from the Netherlands, were also out on 99.
All of them hit a lot of boundaries, but none could reach the magical 100.
Alex Hales was the first batter dismissed on 99 in T20Is in 2012 against the West Indies.
Hamid Shah from Denmark was out on 99 in 2022, matching Hales' stats of 68 balls, 6 fours, and 4 sixes.
Abdul Waheed from Saudi Arabia scored 99 off 58 balls in 2024 against Cambodia with 9 fours and 6 sixes.
Scott Edwards from the Netherlands was dismissed on 99 off 55 balls in 2024 against Oman, hitting 7 fours and 5 sixes.
All four batters were just one run short of a T20I century.
