TDI Residents Demand Inclusion in Mohali Municipal Corporation
Imagine a neighborhood wanting to be part of the city's care.
Residents in TDI, a place with many homes, are asking to be included in Mohali's city services.
They met with their local leader to make this request.
They want the city to take care of their area and fix things.
Right now, a private builder is in charge, and residents feel it’s not working well.
The city leader said he’ll try to help.
But he also warned that joining the city means paying taxes.
Even though it costs money, the residents want the change to improve their neighborhood.
Representatives from 21 residents’ associations met with Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh.
The associations demand the TDI area be included within the Mohali Municipal Corporation (MC).
A 2021 notification initially included the area, but it was excluded in a recent delimitation.
Residents plan to launch an agitation starting October 29 if their demand is unmet.
The MLA assured he would address the issue but noted the implications of MC inclusion, like property taxes.
