India Cuts Windfall Duties on Diesel and ATF Exports
The government charges a special tax on some fuel exports.
From October 1, the tax on exported diesel became lower.
It fell from Rs 20 to Rs 16 per litre.
The tax on exported aviation fuel, called ATF, fell from Rs 15 to Rs 10.5 per litre.
The tax on exported petrol stayed at Rs 0.5 per litre.
These rates will be reviewed after two weeks.
The government says the taxes help keep enough fuel in the country.
They also make exporting fuel less attractive when international prices are high.
Separately, commercial LPG and domestic airline fuel prices increased, while household LPG prices in Delhi stayed unchanged.
Diesel export duty was reduced to Rs 16 per litre from Rs 20.
ATF export duty fell to Rs 10.5 per litre from Rs 15.
Petrol export duty remained unchanged at Rs 0.5 per litre.
The revised rates took effect on October 1, 2026, for a fortnight.
The government says the duties support domestic fuel availability and discourage excessive exports amid West Asia tensions.
