Court rejects Karnataka veterinary exam middleman’s bail over flight risk

A court in Bengaluru refused to release Basavaraj Kannale from jail while his case is investigated.

Police say he helped leak questions from an exam for veterinary doctor jobs.

They allege that he collected large amounts of money from people who wanted the questions.

Police also say he worked with a government exam official, Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar.

Kannale was arrested at an airport while trying to travel to Uzbekistan.

The court worried that he might leave the country and make the investigation harder.

His lawyer said his pregnant wife needed him at home.

The prosecutor said he was traveling without his wife and that this explanation was being used to seek bail.

The recruitment results were put on hold after claims that some candidates received unfair help.
