Court Grants Bail to IIP Directors in ITBP Paper Leak Case
A court in Delhi has allowed two directors of the Indian Institute of Psychometry (IIP) to go free on bail.
They were arrested for their involvement in a leak of exam papers for the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) recruitment.
The court decided to grant bail because the police did not need to question them further, and keeping them in jail would not help.
The exam was supposed to be for 46,174 candidates at many centers, but the question paper was leaked on WhatsApp before the exam started.
The IIP was responsible for making and keeping the exam papers safe.
The court also told the directors not to leave the country without permission and to come to court when needed.
Three other people, including another director and a printer, were also arrested in this case.
Delhi court granted bail to Shubhendu Kumar Paul and Jaydeep Goswami, directors of the Indian Institute of Psychometry (IIP), in the ITBP recruitment paper-leak case.
The court noted that no further custodial interrogation is required and trial is likely to take time, making continued incarceration unnecessary.
Both accused were directed to appear in court on each hearing date, not tamper with evidence, not influence witnesses, and not leave the country without court permission.
Three IIP directors and two others, including a consultant and a printer, were arrested in September 2025 for their involvement in the paper leak.
The exam, held on January 10, 2021, for 46,174 candidates at 81 centers in 13 cities, was compromised when the question paper surfaced on WhatsApp before the examination began.
