Maharashtra Waqf Board Expands Offices, Digitisation and Institutional Capacity

The Maharashtra State Board of Waqf says it is improving how Waqf institutions and properties are managed.

Waqf refers to charitable or religious properties and institutions.

The Board hired more permanent and contract workers.

It also opened more district offices so people can access services closer to home.

About 20,000 institutions were registered through a special administrative process.

The Board is putting property records online through the UMEED Portal.

It is also planning to map Waqf properties using geographic technology.

The Board says its income and government funding increased to support these activities.

It also reported new legal, welfare, recordkeeping and audit measures.
