Karnataka Prepares 10-15 Year Bengaluru Region Development Plan
Karnataka is making a long-term plan for Bengaluru and nearby areas.
The plan covers the next 10 to 15 years.
It includes ideas for more trains, roads, homes and industrial areas.
The government also wants to build an AI City and find a place for an AI university.
Officials say the region will need much more water by 2037, so they discussed water and sewerage improvements.
They also want to reuse treated water and fill lakes.
The housing plan includes homes for workers in industries.
These projects are plans being discussed, not all completed work.
Karnataka is preparing a 10- to 15-year development blueprint for the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region, tied to state economic targets of $400–420 billion by 2037 and $1 trillion by 2047.
Plans include nine integrated industrial townships, an AI City modeled on Singapore’s Punggol, and identifying land for an AI university; 7,900 acres have been acquired and acquisition of another 5,600 acres is underway.
Proposed transport projects include 312 km of additional Metro connectivity by 2037, 72 km of suburban rail, a 210-km ring road, and a 270-km Regional Rapid Transit System corridor.
Officials discussed bringing Bengaluru Urban district under the water and sewerage board and urban local bodies; the region is projected to need 3,600 MLD of water by 2037.
The housing plan proposes 6–6.5 lakh homes, including accommodation for 40,000–50,000 industrial workers.
