Rupee Faces Geopolitical Challenges Amid Global Tensions
The rupee has been facing a lot of pressure lately.
When the US President talked about acquiring Greenland, it made people worried about a trade war between the US and Europe.
This worry caused the rupee to drop to a very low value against the US dollar.
The Reserve Bank of India had to step in to help.
Later, when the US President said they wouldn't use force to take Greenland and backed down on some threats, the rupee felt a bit better.
But the rupee is still not safe.
It's been going down for months, and there are many reasons for this, like US tariffs and global protectionism.
This makes things more expensive in India, especially fuel.
Meanwhile, gold and silver prices have reached new highs because of these same worries and a weaker US dollar.
People are buying more gold because they think the US central bank will cut interest rates, which makes gold more attractive.
So, the rupee and other currencies are in a tough spot, and this might continue for a while.
The rupee crashed to an all-time low of 91.74 against the US dollar on January 21 due to geopolitical uncertainties.
The Reserve Bank of India intervened to prevent further erosion in the rupee value.
Gold prices reached a record high of $4,917.65 per ounce, driven by geopolitical tensions and a weaker US dollar.
Silver and platinum prices also hit record highs, with silver surging to $96.58 per ounce and platinum to $2,601.03 per ounce.
The rupee faces ongoing pressure due to US tariffs, global protectionism, and higher Indian stock valuations.
