India’s Midfield Battle Shapes Crucial Hockey World Cup Clash
India are playing the Netherlands in an important field hockey match.
The score was 0-0 as the second quarter continued.
India started quickly and put pressure on the Dutch team.
The Netherlands then created penalty-corner chances and tested India’s defense.
The Dutch are good at keeping the ball and making opponents chase them.
India needs its midfielders, including Hardik Singh and Manpreet Singh, to win the ball and pass it forward.
India’s captain Harmanpreet Singh could help with penalty corners if India reaches the attacking circle.
Losing would make it much harder for India to reach the semifinals.
India and the Netherlands were level 0-0 as the second quarter continued on Saturday, August 22.
India entered the match after wins over Pakistan and Wales but a loss to England.
The Netherlands were undefeated, beating New Zealand, Argentina and Japan in the tournament.
India’s midfield, especially Hardik Singh and Manpreet Singh, was identified as central to resisting Dutch possession.
A defeat could severely damage India’s semifinal chances under the World Cup’s new format.
