Supreme Court Rejects Appeal in SpiceJet-KAL Airways Dispute
SpiceJet won a court case against its former owners, KAL Airways and Kalanithi Maran.
They had asked for a lot of money (over Rs 1,300 crore) from SpiceJet, but the Supreme Court said no.
This is not the first time they were turned down, as other courts had previously rejected their claims too.
The original issue started years ago when Ajay Singh took back ownership of SpiceJet from Maran.
There's still a part of the case left, which involves if SpiceJet needs to pay interest and other details.
Supreme Court dismissed KAL Airways and Kalanithi Maran's appeal for over Rs 1,300 crore in damages from SpiceJet.
The appeal dismissal follows previous rejections by the Arbitral Tribunal and Delhi High Court.
SpiceJet's appeal against interest levied and premature refund of CRPS amount remains to be decided.
Maran and KAL Airways, former SpiceJet promoters, had sought damages and other claims.
The case stems from a 2015 share transfer dispute after Ajay Singh reacquired SpiceJet.
