BITS Pilani Drops THE Rankings

BITS Pilani Drops THE Rankings

BITS Pilani, a well-known university in India, has decided not to be part of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings anymore.

They said this is because they have concerns about how transparent and verifiable the ranking process is.

The university believes that since these rankings influence students' choices, academic partnerships, and funding decisions, the process should be more open and trustworthy.

Other Indian Institutes of Technology have also opted out of rankings for similar reasons.

BITS Pilani is still committed to working with other universities around the world, doing research, and encouraging students and teachers to move between institutions.

They are open to joining the rankings again if the process becomes more consistent and verifiable in the future.
