India Recommends Anti-Dumping Duty on Solar Cells from China
India is concerned about solar cells from China being sold too cheaply, which hurts local companies.
The DGTR investigated and found these imports were 'dumped'.
The DGTR is recommending extra taxes (anti-dumping duty) on these Chinese solar cells for three years.
The Finance Ministry will make the final decision.
This is meant to level the playing field so Indian companies can compete fairly.
Similar duties are being considered on other products as well.
DGTR recommends anti-dumping duty on solar cells imported from China.
The recommendation aims to protect domestic players from cheap imports.
The duty will be imposed for three years.
The recommended duty varies, with rates up to 30% for some Chinese firms.
The Finance Ministry will decide on the final implementation of the duty.
