Ladakh Leaders Seek Cases Withdrawal, Early Report on Leh Violence

Ladakh Leaders Seek Cases Withdrawal, Early Report on Leh Violence

Ladakh leaders are asking the administration to drop cases against people involved in last year’s protests in Leh.

They also want compensation for people affected by the violence.

The leaders asked for talks with the central government to begin again.

They want a committee investigating the events to finish its report soon.

Leh saw violence during a movement for special status and statehood for Ladakh.

Four civilians died during action by security forces.

From August 24 to September 24, leaders will hold “Martyrs’ Month” events.

The month will remember people who died while supporting Ladakh’s rights and demands.
