Court Hears Stray Dog Management Pleas
The Supreme Court is hearing many cases about stray dogs in India.
Some people want the dogs removed for safety reasons, while others want to protect the dogs' rights.
The court says it's not ordering all dogs to be removed, but wants them managed properly with sterilization and vaccination.
They also talked about how dogs and cats behave and how to keep people safe from dog bites.
The court is trying to find a balance between keeping people safe and treating animals kindly.
The Central Information Commission (CIC) has also advised Delhi's civic bodies to make data of licensed pet dogs more accessible to the public, which could help residents address concerns related to stray and unlicensed dogs.
The Supreme Court is hearing multiple pleas regarding stray dog management in India.
The court clarified it has not ordered a blanket removal of all stray dogs from the streets.
The court emphasized managing stray animals according to the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023.
