Athawale Calls Anti-Reservation Protesters Traitors as Quota Debate Intensifies

Athawale Calls Anti-Reservation Protesters Traitors as Quota Debate Intensifies

Some people in India are protesting against caste-based reservations.

They want reservations to be based only on a person’s economic situation.

Union minister Ramdas Athawale called the protesters “traitors” and said opposing reservations is against the Constitution.

Another minister, Chirag Paswan, defended reservations as a constitutional right.

He said discrimination against Dalits still happens.

The protests took place in central Delhi and have spread through social media.

The BJP’s central leadership has not publicly taken a position in the controversy.

A police case was filed against YouTuber Ajeet Bharti over alleged derogatory remarks against Dalit leader Chandra Shekhar Aazad.
