Shubman Gill Builds His Own Gen Z Captaincy Style
Shubman Gill is a young cricket captain for India.
Being captain means he has to do much more than just bat.
He watches practice, talks with coaches and helps teammates prepare.
Gill listens to experienced players, but he makes the final decisions himself.
He does not try to copy older captains such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni.
Instead, he takes useful qualities from each of them and creates his own style.
He stays calm while still being confident and demanding.
He also accepts responsibility when things go wrong.
His biggest test will come at the next World Cup.
Shubman Gill’s responsibilities have expanded significantly since becoming India’s Test and ODI captain.
He seeks advice from senior players and coaches but makes and stands by his own decisions.
Gill’s leadership is described as composed, assertive and intense without being overbearing.
Unlike some predecessors, he is developing a style based on selected qualities from several former captains.
The upcoming World Cup is presented as Gill’s first major test, though he remains a relatively inexperienced captain.
