Trump Helipad Event Goes Silent as TV Networks Boycott Coverage

Trump Helipad Event Goes Silent as TV Networks Boycott Coverage

President Donald Trump held a ceremony to open a new helipad at the White House.

The ceremony was hard to hear because a helicopter was louder than his remarks.

Normally, television networks work together to provide cameras and microphones for events with the president.

ABC, CBS, Fox News and NBC stopped doing this after the White House barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico from its grounds.

Without the shared cameras and microphones, the White House feed did not clearly capture Trump’s speech.

The affected organizations sued, saying the ban violated press-freedom protections.

Trump and his administration said the news organizations could still report from outside and accused them of spreading fake news.

The dispute also affected planned television coverage of Trump’s trip to New York, although the United Nations was expected to provide its own broadcast of General Assembly proceedings.
