Oman Postpones Strait of Hormuz Summit Amid Gulf Pushback

Oman planned a meeting about how commercial ships could travel through the Strait of Hormuz.

Ministers from Iran, Iraq and the six Gulf Cooperation Council countries were expected to attend.

Oman postponed the meeting to create better conditions for agreement.

Oman said the decision was made in the interests of consensus.

Bahrain objected to taking part in a meeting that included Iran.

Bahrain said it would wait until full diplomatic relations with Iran are restored.

Iran and Oman had prepared a plan for ships to use certain Iranian and Omani waters.

Iran said the plan would organize shipping but would not fully reopen the waterway.
