Eklavya Schools See Dramatic Rise in Competitive Exam Qualifiers
Imagine special schools for tribal kids called Eklavya schools.
These schools give them everything they need to learn, like books, food, and a place to stay, all for free.
Before, not many kids from these schools did very well on big tough tests to get into college for engineering or medicine.
But this year, a huge number of them passed these important exams!
It's like going from just two kids passing to almost 600 kids passing.
This shows that by giving these students good opportunities, they can achieve amazing things and have a brighter future.
597 students from Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) qualified for JEE Main, JEE Advanced, and NEET UG in 2024-25.
This represents a significant jump from just 2 qualifiers in 2022-23 and 22 in 2023-24.
Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh led with the highest number of NEET and JEE qualifiers.
EMRS schools, run by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, provide free education, boarding, and healthcare to tribal children.
The EMRS scheme aims to bridge the opportunity gap for tribal youth by offering holistic development.
