Lok Sabha adjourns as Opposition demands Amit Shah statement

Lok Sabha adjourns as Opposition demands Amit Shah statement

The Lok Sabha is a big meeting place where India's leaders make laws.

On Monday, the meeting started and stopped very quickly, in less than one minute, because many members were unhappy and shouted slogans.

They are upset with Amit Shah, the Home Minister, because they want him to explain what happened when police and student protesters clashed during a march on July 20.

Some important bills are waiting to be discussed, like one about women's reservation and another about delimitation.

But with only three days left in the session, no one is sure if these bills will be passed.

The Home Minister was also supposed to bring new proposals, like changing the name of Kerala.

Another member, Manish Tewari, wants a new law to stop politicians from switching parties.

Leaders like Priyanka Gandhi and Sanjay Raut say the meetings will stay stuck until Amit Shah speaks.

This is called a deadlock, when two sides cannot agree.
