BMC Removes 1,450 Tonnes of Hyacinth From Powai Lake
Imagine a big lake called Powai Lake that had a lot of weeds called water hyacinth.
The city cleaned up a bunch of these weeds, like 1,450 big trucks full!
They used special machines for ten days to get rid of them.
Also, the city is building a place to clean up dirty water, so the lake can be cleaner.
They'll clean some water and put it back in the lake.
An environmentalist said they need to do more cleaning because the lake is very big.
The lake has been around since 1891.
Now, they're working hard to make the lake nice and healthy again!
The BMC removed 1,450 metric tonnes of water hyacinth from Powai Lake.
Removal took place over 10 days using five harvester units.
The BMC is laying new sewage lines and setting up a sewage treatment plant.
8 MLD of sewage will be treated and reintroduced to the lake.
An environmentalist stated that more cleanup is needed.
