Agri varsity VC warns against urea overuse
The head of a big farming school, Prof. Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University, said that some farmers are using too much urea, which is a type of fertilizer.
He explained that using more urea than needed doesn't help plants grow better.
Instead, it can make the food we eat unhealthy, pollute the soil, and make the plants weaker.
He advised farmers to use urea carefully to keep everyone safe and healthy.
He also mentioned that urea is cheaper than other fertilizers, which might be why farmers use too much of it.
PTAU Vice-Chancellor Aldus Janaiah warns against excessive urea usage by farmers.
Excessive urea usage does not yield additional benefits and can lead to health problems and soil pollution.
Studies show that urea abuse can adversely affect plant immunity, leading to pest and disease incidence.
Nitrogen is essential for plants, but farmers are advised to use urea judiciously.
The low cost of urea compared to other fertilizers may be a reason for its excessive use.
