Madhubani Bar Association Denies Gender Bias Claims
A lawyer named Anita Jha has been practicing law from her car for 13 years because she says she was not given a proper workspace in the court building.
She claims this is because she is a woman.
The Madhubani District Bar Association, which manages the court's facilities, says this is not true.
They say there is not enough space or money to give everyone a private chamber, and they have provided a shared space for women lawyers.
The association's president and secretary say Anita Jha was given a seat in the shared space but chose not to use it.
The local government official, the District Magistrate, is looking into the issue to find a solution.
Anita Jha claims she has been practicing law from her car for 13 years due to gender bias in chamber allotment.
The Madhubani District Bar Association denies gender bias, citing space and fund constraints for not providing individual chambers.
The association states that a shared hall for women lawyers was created in 2011, but Anita Jha chose not to use it.
The Bar Association President and Secretary claim that Anita Jha was given a seat in the shared space but refused to use it.
The District Magistrate is examining the issue and has been informed about the space and fund constraints by the Bar Association.
