IIT-BHU and IMS Develop Fenugreek-Based Biomaterial for Wound Healing
Scientists from IIT-BHU and IMS-BHU have created a special material using fenugreek that helps heal deep wounds and protects the skin from the sun.
This material is also good at fighting germs.
The team, led by Dr. Avneesh Singh Parmar and Prof. Vaibhav Jain, has tested it on animals and found it works well without any harmful effects.
They are now preparing to test it on humans.
This new material could be very helpful for people with diabetic wounds, which are hard to heal.
The researchers have also started a company to make and sell this product.
They presented their work at a big health conference in January 2026.
The director of IIT-BHU is very happy with this new invention and says it shows how the institute is working on solutions for real-world problems.
IIT-BHU and IMS-BHU researchers developed a fenugreek-based biomaterial for wound healing and skin protection.
The biomaterial accelerates tissue regeneration, protects against UV rays, and has antimicrobial properties.
Pre-clinical studies on rat and rabbit models confirmed rapid wound healing and biocompatibility.
The technology is moving towards clinical trials with submission to CDSCO underway.
A startup, Pro-Amyloidocare Private Limited, has been established for commercialization with support from IIT-BHU Foundation and JIC Startup Award.
