Delhi Court Acquits Man After Assault Victim Turns Hostile

A man named Deepak Sehrawat was accused of hurting a woman in 2016.

The woman, Pooja Verma, ran a beauty parlour in Mahipalpur.

Prosecutors said he punched and kicked her, broke things, hit her with a glass, and took her phone.

During the trial, Verma denied that he had attacked her.

She said she had married Sehrawat in 2017 and that they were living well with their daughter.

Two other people said they saw the alleged assault, but the judge found problems in their accounts.

The judge also found that the timing of police and hospital records did not fit their story.

Because of these doubts, the court acquitted Sehrawat.
