The police say her own father, named Rinku, did it.

The family was riding a motorcycle to buy birthday clothes for the baby, whose birthday is August 17.

Near a bridge, the father said he wanted to take a selfie with the baby.

Instead, he is accused of dropping the baby into the Yamuna River.

When the baby's mother, Lakshmi, asked him what he was doing, he reportedly tried to push her into the river too.

She screamed, and nearby people came and rescued her.

The police arrested the father.

They say the parents had been arguing for six to seven months.

Police are still investigating and awaiting further details about the baby's fate.
