Protests Erupt at Bengal College After BJP Leader’s Appointment

Sayantan Basu recently became the president of Bhangar College’s governing body.

Some students did not want him in that position.

They blocked the college gate and shouted slogans when he arrived.

ABVP members shouted slogans back, creating a tense situation.

Police came and later escorted Basu into the college.

Protesters said police used batons and detained some people.

Police did not confirm those allegations.

The college had also seen a clash between student groups less than a week earlier.

Both sides had complained to the police about that earlier incident.
