Assam to Showcase Historic 'Vrindavani Vastra' Textile for Six Months
Imagine a very old and special piece of cloth called the Vrindavani Vastra, made a long time ago with the help of a wise teacher named Srimanta Sankardeva.
Right now, this special cloth is kept in museums far away in Britain and France.
The leader of Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, really wants people in Assam to see it.
So, he is going to London to sign a paper to borrow the cloth for six months.
He hopes to build a new, super safe museum in Assam to keep it protected.
The museums in Britain said they might lend it for even longer, 18 months, but Assam needs to build a very special museum first and set up a cool live video connection.
This is a big deal because it's the first time this important piece of art might come back to Assam for everyone to see.
Assam's Chief Minister announced the Vrindavani Vastra textile will be brought to the state for a six-month public display.
A formal agreement will be signed between the Assam government and a London museum during the CM's visit from November 15-17.
The historic textile was created under the spiritual guidance of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva.
The British Museum has previously indicated a willingness to loan the Vastra for 18 months if Assam builds a state-of-the-art museum.
Existing facilities in Assam were deemed not yet suitable by British Museum officials for housing the artifact.
