BCCI Weighs Ajit Agarkar’s Future as Chief Selector

Ajit Agarkar is the person who leads India’s cricket selectors.

Reports say he may leave the job when his term ends on October 4.

The BCCI has not confirmed whether he will leave or stay.

Its secretary, Devajit Saikia, said the board would decide at the right time.

Reports also say Agarkar and the board disagreed about Rohit Sharma’s future in one-day cricket.

Agarkar was absent from an important BCCI meeting, though the board said he was away for personal reasons.

Parthiv Patel and Pragyan Ojha are possible replacements, and an interim selector could be used.

Agarkar’s period in charge included several major tournament victories for India.

India’s next assignment is a home limited-overs series against the West Indies.
