Electronics Exports Poised to Become India's Second Largest
India's electronics exports are booming, increasing significantly in the first half of the financial year.
The government is happy and expects this trend to continue, potentially making electronics the second-biggest export category soon.
The rise is partly thanks to the 'Make in India' initiative and the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, turning India into a net exporter of smartphones.
Smartphone exports are especially strong, with huge growth in the first five months of the fiscal year, and even more growth in September.
Overall exports are also up, despite problems in the world markets.
Electronics exports are the third-largest and fastest-growing category.
Exports increased by 42% in H1 FY26, reaching $22.2 billion.
Smartphone exports crossed Rs 1 lakh crore in the first five months of FY26.
Smartphone exports grew over 95% YoY in September.
Overall exports grew by 5.19% between April and August 2025.
