Forest Science Centre Launched for Conservation and Research
The University of Agricultural Sciences in Bengaluru has started a new Forest Science Centre.
This centre will help farmers, researchers, and local communities learn about forests and how to take care of them.
They will teach about planting trees, using forest products, and following the rules about forests.
The centre will also work with other organizations to provide better tree varieties and technologies.
The goal is to make sure forests are protected and used in a way that is good for the environment and helps people make a living.
The centre will share what it learns with farmers through special training programs.
The University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Bengaluru, has established a Forest Science Centre at its GKVK campus to promote forest-based research and sustainable livelihoods.
The centre aims to integrate conservation, research, and extension activities to protect local plant resources and promote sustainable use of forest wealth.
UAS has partnered with the Institute of Wood Science and Technology (IWST) and the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) for research, awareness, and extension programs.
The centre will provide training on forest awareness, value addition to forest produce, legal aspects of forestry, horticulture, and agroforestry practices.
Programs and training activities will be disseminated to farmers through the university’s Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) to ensure wider outreach and practical implementation.
