Noida Reuses Only One-Third of Treated Sewage Water
The Noida Authority is treating 260 million litres of wastewater every day, but only using about one-third of it.
The rest is being sent into drains.
The Authority plans to increase the reuse of this treated water to 120 million litres by 2026, but this is still not enough.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) is not happy with these plans and will hear the case again in February.
Experts say the current plans don't solve the problem.
The treated water is used for things like watering parks and fighting fires.
Noida treats 260 MLD of wastewater but reuses only 86 MLD.
The remaining 174 MLD is discharged into drains.
The Authority aims to increase reuse to 120 MLD by 2026.
Current reuse increase is only 8 MLD.
NGT criticizes the Authority for not addressing present non-compliance.
