EPFO: Delinking Incorrect IDs & Raising Wage Ceiling
If your work account (UAN) is linked to the wrong ID, you can fix it on the EPFO website.
You'll need to go to your service history, pick the wrong ID, explain why it's wrong, and verify with a code sent to your phone.
If your boss already used that wrong ID for payroll, you might need to talk to them.
Also, EPFO might soon say that more jobs have to be part of the retirement fund, even if people earn up to about $25,000 a month, so more people get retirement and pension benefits.
Employees can delink an incorrect member ID from their Universal Account Number (UAN) via the EPFO unified member portal.
The process involves logging in, navigating to 'View >> Service History', selecting the incorrect ID, and clicking 'Delink'.
Delinking requires providing a reason and verifying with an OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
If an employer has filed an ECR using an incorrect ID, the delinking process will result in an error.
EPFO is considering raising the wage ceiling for mandatory EPF and EPS inclusion from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000.
