Vance: 'Some Progress' in Iran Talks; No Hormuz Toll Plans

Far away, there is a very narrow strip of water called the Strait of Hormuz.

Many ships travel through it carrying oil and gas to countries all over the world.

Recently, there was a big disagreement between the United States and Iran, and they have been fighting.

The vice president of the United States, JD Vance, talked on television about the situation.

He said the two countries are talking, and things are getting a little better.

He wants Iran to let the same amount of oil and gas pass through the waterway as before the conflict.

Early in the conflict, Iran placed dangerous underwater mines, so the countries must work together to remove them safely.

Iran told the United States it will not make ships pay money to use the waterway, but the US wants to see proof.

Iran says the waterway cannot open until the United States improves its behaviour and agrees to its demands.

The United States also wants Iran to promise not to attack ships carrying goods.
