Cabinet Approves Higher MSP for Copra
The government has decided to increase the minimum support price (MSP) for copra, which is the dried kernel of the coconut, for the year 2026.
This means farmers will get more money for their copra.
The price for milling copra is now Rs 12,027 per quintal, and for ball copra, it's Rs 12,500 per quintal.
This is an increase from the previous year.
The government hopes this will help farmers earn more and encourage them to produce more copra.
Additionally, a special type of copra from Tiptur is trying to get a special tag called a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, which would recognize its unique quality.
Cabinet approves higher MSP for copra for 2026 season.
MSP for milling copra set at Rs 12,027 per quintal, ball copra at Rs 12,500 per quintal.
Increase of Rs 445 for milling copra and Rs 400 for ball copra over previous season.
Higher MSP aims to boost farmer income and expand copra production.
Tiptur copra seeks GI tag recognition for its quality.
