Cabinet Approves Higher MSP for Copra
The government has decided to increase the minimum support price (MSP) for copra, which is the dried kernel of the coconut, for the year 2026.
This means farmers will get more money for their copra.
The price for milling copra is now Rs 12,027 per quintal, and for ball copra, it's Rs 12,500 per quintal.
This is an increase from the previous year.
The government hopes this will help farmers earn more and encourage them to produce more copra.
Additionally, a special type of copra from Tiptur is trying to get a special tag called a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, which would recognize its unique quality.
