Rajasthan Police Grapple With Surge in Cybercrime Mule Accounts
Headache for Rajasthan police: Ever-growing list of mule accounts · indianexpress.com

A mule account is a bank account used to move money from a scam.

Rajasthan police found more than 82,000 such accounts in the first part of 2026.

Some people gave their account details because they were tricked or needed money.

Others knowingly handed over their accounts in exchange for payment.

Police say cybercrime groups use these accounts to hide where stolen money goes.

In Dungarpur, investigators found about 450 accounts connected to an alleged ₹160 crore fraud network.

The investigation reportedly involved account holders, bank employees and operators linked to Dubai and Kuwait.

Police are trying to stop the networks and warn people not to share their banking details.
