TCS-Porsche Deal May Revive Indian IT’s AI Prospects
Why the TCS-Porsche deal could help flip Indian IT’s ‘reverse AI trade’ script · indianexpress.com

Tata Consultancy Services, or TCS, is partnering with Porsche to use artificial intelligence in car-making and other mobility work.

TCS will buy Porsche’s consulting company MHP for €320 million.

Porsche and TCS will also work together under a five-year agreement worth €1.25 billion.

TCS plans to create a special centre to develop AI projects for Porsche.

These projects could improve manufacturing, engineering, business operations and customer experiences.

Other Indian technology companies have also won large deals in Europe and elsewhere.

However, big contracts do not turn into all the money immediately because projects take years to begin and deliver.

Experts say Indian IT needs stronger revenue growth, better margins and more discretionary technology spending before a new boom can be confirmed.

Industry analyst quoted in the article

“For a genuine IT-sector recovery, I would want to see three things: deal wins translating into sustained revenue growth, margins improving despite AI-related pricing pressure and clients increasing discretionary technology spending rather than merely spending on cost-cutting or mandatory transformation.”
