15th Manipur Polo International Returns to Mapal Kangjeibung
A big polo tournament is coming to the historic Mapal Kangjeibung field in Manipur, India.
Teams from around the world will play from November 22 to 29.
This event is special because it's where polo started a long time ago.
It's also important for saving the special Manipuri ponies that are getting fewer in number.
The tournament helps local players show their skills and encourages people to protect these amazing ponies.
The 15th Manipur Polo International Tournament will be held at Mapal Kangjeibung from November 22 to 29.
Teams from Colombia, the United States, and likely Spain and Italy will compete alongside Indian teams.
The tournament is hosted by the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association (MHRPA) and celebrates the birthplace of polo.
Efforts are underway to conserve the Manipuri pony population, which has seen a slight decline, with new grazing areas identified.
The event aims to revive polo among youth, provide a platform for local players, and promote the conservation of the Manipuri pony.
