India Updates Tax Filing for Social Media Influencers
The Indian government has introduced a special tax code, '16021', to help social media influencers and content creators file their taxes correctly.
This code helps them report their income from promotions, endorsements, and other online content.
Influencers can use either ITR-3 or ITR-4, depending on their earnings and if they choose a simpler tax plan called presumptive taxation.
ITR-4 is for those using the simpler plan, while ITR-3 is for people with business income, but not if they can use ITR-1, ITR-2 or ITR-4.
This simplifies tax compliance.
The Income Tax Department introduced code '16021' for social media influencers.
The code applies to those earning from promotions, endorsements, and digital content.
Influencers choose between ITR-3 or ITR-4 based on income and presumptive taxation.
ITR-4 is for those using presumptive taxation under Section 44ADA.
ITR-3 is for individuals and HUFs with business income, excluding ITR-1, ITR-2, or ITR-4 filers.
