NHRC Seeks Reports Over Alleged Meta Child Abuse Ads

India’s human rights commission is investigating reports about harmful advertisements on Instagram.

The reports said some paid ads used words connected to child abuse and sent people to Telegram channels.

Those channels allegedly offered illegal material for money.

The commission asked government departments and Delhi Police to explain what they have done.

It wants to know whether the law requiring suspected child abuse to be reported was followed.

It also wants electronic evidence preserved so investigators can study it.

Investigators may try to identify the advertisers and other people involved.

They may also work to find and help children who were harmed.

Meta did not immediately respond to the report.
