OpenAI Launches ChatGPT for Teens With Stronger Safeguards

OpenAI has launched a version of ChatGPT for teenagers aged 13 to 17.

It has extra rules for conversations about suicide, self-harm, violence, eating disorders and sexual or romantic topics.

The chatbot is also stopped from acting as if it has feelings or consciousness.

Some features, including voice mode, are disabled.

Parents can optionally link their accounts to a teen’s account.

They can set times when ChatGPT cannot be used and may receive limited safety alerts.

The chatbot’s study tools are meant to teach steps and give practice instead of doing homework or essays.

OpenAI says these changes can help teens use AI in a healthier way.

Critics and researchers remain concerned about cheating, emotional dependence and possible safety failures.
