FARC Leader Calls for Rebel Unity Against US
A leader of a group that used to be called FARC in Colombia made a video asking other rebel groups to join together.
He wants them to fight against the United States because the U.S. recently went into Venezuela and captured their president, Nicolas Maduro.
The leader's name is Nestor Gregorio Lozada, but people know him as Ivan Mordisco.
He leads the biggest group of people who still fight, even though FARC is mostly not a rebel group anymore.
Nestor Gregorio Lozada, aka Ivan Mordisco, leads the largest dissident branch of the former FARC guerrilla group.
He called for unity among rebel groups to fight U.S. interventionism in a video message confirmed as authentic.
The call follows the U.S. incursion into Venezuela, which resulted in the capture of President Nicolas Maduro.
The message was released on January 9, 2024, and was confirmed by the group.
Lozada's group is part of the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
