Berlin Power Grid Attack by Far-Left Extremists
A big fire in Berlin, Germany, caused by a group called the Volcano Group, has left many people without electricity.
The group says they did it to protest against companies that use fossil fuels like coal and oil.
The fire has affected around 45,000 homes and 1,900 businesses.
Officials are working to fix the power grid, but it might take until January 8.
This is not the first time this group has targeted the power supply in Berlin.
In September, they also caused a similar problem by setting fire to some big power lines.
The authorities are investigating and have said they strongly condemn this attack.
A fire in southwest Berlin caused by a suspected arson attack by far-left extremists has left up to 45,000 households and 1,900 commercial entities without power.
The Volcano Group, a far-left activist organization, claimed responsibility for the attack, targeting the fossil-fuel based energy industry.
Berlin's interior affairs minister, Iris Spranger, confirmed the authenticity of the letter claiming responsibility and condemned the attack.
Efforts to restore power are ongoing, with an expected completion date of January 8.
A similar arson attack in September left around 50,000 households without power, with local media drawing parallels to the recent incident and a 2024 attack on Tesla's gigafactory.
