Nellore's Champion Farmers Initiative Gains Statewide Attention
In Nellore, a new idea called Champion Farmers was introduced by the district head, Himanshu Shukla.
This idea aims to help farmers who are having trouble finding workers and getting fertilizers and pesticides.
The plan is to pick experienced farmers from each village to teach others about growing different crops that need less water and money, using machines for farming, and how to sell their produce.
The state's Chief Minister liked this idea and told all other districts to try it too.
He also suggested focusing on more profitable crops like fruits and vegetables and involving local self-help groups in the program.
Nellore district Collector Himanshu Shukla introduced the Champion Farmers (CFs) concept to address farming challenges.
The initiative aims to motivate farmers and educate them about alternative crops, farm mechanization, and marketing.
Nellore district will be divided into three regions based on soil conditions and proposed crops.
Experienced farmers will be appointed as 'Champion Farmers' in 727 villages to guide and educate others.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu appreciated the concept and directed all district Collectors to implement it statewide.
